Pontoon Boats

What could be simpler than a big floating platform to build a boat upon? All that floor space gives pontoon boats oodles of room to stretch out, soak up the sun (or stay in the shade), and enjoy the lake — like a comfy living room on the water. Building atop two separate pontoons (or sometimes three, on a “tri-toon”) provides pontoon boats with huge capacity and incredible stability, too. That makes them ideal for all sorts of boating, whether that’s enjoying a quiet corner of the lake with just your closest companion, loading up the entire extended family for an outing, or inviting a dozen friends to the lake party spot.

Those same attributes make pontoon boats ideal for electric propulsion. After all, who wants gas engine fumes rolling through their waterborne living room? Those two long, narrow hulls make pontoon boats easy to push, extending battery range. Quiet, smooth operation facilitates conversation underway and enhances communication while docking. Electric propulsion also eliminates pollution and safety concerns, as well as the smell and mess, from having gasoline aboard. Elco’s brushless PMAC motors and direct drive propulsion system maximize efficiency and minimize maintenance.

10 hp electric outboard motor - EP9.9

EP-9.9

MSRP: $3,450
Voltage: 48 Volts
Suggested Battery (Ah): 90Ah – 120Ah
Comparable HP: 9.9HP

On small lakes, particularly when lake restrictions prohibit larger motors, Elco’s EP-9.9 pairs well with pontoon boats. 48-volt operation provides ample power while maximizing battery options and minimizing size and weight.

Electric Outboard Motor - EP20

EP-20

MSRP: $5,450
Voltage: 48 Volts
Suggested Battery (Ah): 165Ah – 225Ah
Comparable HP: 20HP

Where horsepower isn’t restricted, Elco’s EP-20 is a great choice for electric pontoon boat propulsion, particularly on larger lakes where wind and waves sometimes present more challenging conditions. The EP-20’s larger chassis turns a bigger propeller, which maximizes efficiency and also provides extra torque and increases response for smoother docking. 48-volt operation offers considerable flexibility in battery options.

Electric Outboard Motor - EP30

EP-30

MSRP: $7,950
Voltage: 96 Volts
Suggested Battery (Ah): 130Ah – 225Ah
Comparable HP: 30HP

Elco’s EP-30 is built on the same compact, lightweight frame as the EP-20, but its 96-volt batteries supply more continuous wattage to provide extra power for quick bursts of speed or while docking heavily loaded pontoon boats.

Electric Outboard Motor - EP50

EP-50

MSRP: $9,950
Voltage: 96 Volts
Suggested Battery (Ah): 165Ah – 300Ah
Comparable HP: 50HP

Elco’s EP-50 rides in a robust chassis that turns a large propeller. This true workhorse creates incredible torque for precise maneuvering in adverse conditions, even on large pontoon boats with lots of people aboard. 96-volt batteries draw ample continuous amps required to power large pontoon boats to double-digit speed while boaters benefit from quiet, smooth, clean operation combustion engines can’t match.
