Skiff Boat
The term “skiff” applies to many small boats, but most people think of skiffs as 12- to 20-foot lightweight, open boats often suitable for open water and powered by outboard motors. Whether a flats fishing skiff, with its outboard motor tilted up and poled across inches-deep water, or the classic 13-foot Boston Whaler entertaining adolescents in their own, first boat, open, sporty skiffs connect boaters closer to the water than larger boats can.
That connection to the water is enhanced by electric propulsion. For starters, Elco’s electric outboards are about half as loud as gas engines at cruising speed, and whisper quiet at slow speed. Electric motors eliminate safety concerns, odors and mess associated with small gas engines, and pristine environments benefit from zero exhaust emissions and zero chance to spill gasoline. In short, Elco’s motors make skiffs safer, cleaner and more enjoyable.
While the EP-5 and ultra-portable EP-3 propel any open boat just fine in protected waters, larger motors enhance a skiff’s sporty nature.
