Recently I purchased a 1988 16-foot Suncruiser Pontoon boat in need of a full restoration. While researching the restoration, one of the items I was looking for was a high-quality electric motor, since gas motors are not allowed on the lake where I live.
After days of searching the internet, and looking at all the available options, I called Dean at Elco Motor Yachts. He was helpful in answering all my questions and addressing any concerns.
After looking over the website and some of the company’s YouTube videos, I was really impressed with the look of the motor, the durability and easy access to the electrical components (I liked that they were in the top of the motor, under cover, like a proper outboard).
Once I purchased the motor, the install was a breeze. It’s the best thing that I’ve done to the boat. And everyone that comes on the boat is so impressed with the motor. I’m on a 22-acre, electric-only lake, and I actually got called by the president of the lake that said he’d heard there was an outboard on the lake, so I had to show him it was electric.
The Elco motor is powerful with quiet operation, and the quality of the product has surpassed my expectations. I am very pleased with this purchase! Post purchase, customer service is great too. This product is made in the USA, and the company has been around since 1893! Highly Recommend.
