Elco’s EDGEMERE EP-3 is our most portable outboard, yet its 1200-watt highly efficient, brushless permanent magnet motor and integrated 1440-watt lithium battery provide more power and greater range than similar electric outboards. The EP-3 offers power and runtime comparable to 3 hp gas outboards with integrated fuel tanks.
The EP-3 maximizes convenience, too. Just press the “on” button for immediate propulsion, avoiding gas engine pull-cords and decompression mechanisms. Elco’s direct-drive system provides smooth, seamless shifting between forward, neutral and reverse at the tiller — stay fully seated inside the boat, without safety concerns from spinning a running motor 180 degrees typically required when operating in reverse with small gas outboards. The magnetic safety cut-off switch and lanyard stops the motor instantly, if needed.
The tiller also includes a backlit LCD display that shows motor and battery information, and the integrated GPS indicates boat speed and miles remaining from the battery charge. Snapping in a spare battery doubles range without the spills, smell and mess from refueling gasoline.
Weighing just 26 pounds, without the battery, the EP-3 is easy to lift on and off transoms. The 22-pound, 1440-watt battery — the highest capacity in its class — floats if dropped. With no gas and no oil whatsoever, Elco’s EP-3 is safely transported in any position with no leaks and conveniently stored in any location, even indoors.
Elco’s brushless, permanent magnet motor maximize efficiency and minimize maintenance. Our direct-drive system eliminates marine transmissions, and with just one moving mechanical part, the EP-3 eliminates winterization or long-term storage concerns.
